Evergreen Historic District Evergreen Historic District, Tennessee. Evergreen Historic District is home to one of the oldest Historic District associations in Memphis. Over 30 years old, the association is responsible for maintaining the district, keeping the streets clean, planning residential activities, and keeping the streets safe for residents. The neighborhood has fought fiercely and maintained the neighborhood. Having gone to the Supreme Court to keep its land from being turned into an express way, the association has fought to maintain the vibrant community that exists today. The biennial home tour through Evergreen, raises money to maintain the beautiful streets, and keep the businesses booming. It has also provided enough to help renovate some of the historic buildings, making them accessible to the public. Evergreen is home to three parks (including 100 year old Overton Park), the Memphis College of Art, The Memphis Zoo, Memphis Brook Art Museum, and Overton Square. |
